Our story begins when a young German entrepreneur, Augustus "Gus" Weidman, journeyed to the heart of Texas with nothing but a whisk and a dream. Little did he know, this was the start of something extraordinary.

Gus was a masterful baker but struggled with the business side of things. Fortune smiled upon him when he crossed paths with Thomas McElwee, a savvy local entrepreneur. Their partnership became the foundation of a thriving enterprise.

1946

By 1946, the bakery had grown, and it was time for a new chapter. Lee William McNutt and Bob Rutherford stepped in, ensuring the bakery remained a family-owned and operated gem, preserving its cherished traditions.

1958

Lee William "Bill" McNutt Jr. had grander visions. In 1958, he began transforming the business from a beloved regional bread bakery into a national and international sensation, known for its mail-order fruitcakes.

2000s

The new millennium brought exciting changes. Collin Street Bakery opened new Café locations along major interstates I-45, I-20, and I-35, complementing the facility on 7th Avenue in Corsicana, Texas.

More than a century later, some things remain delightfully unchanged. We continue to craft the world’s best fruitcake—the DeLuxe®. Our commitment to quality endures as we ship our delectable creations worldwide, and Corsicana, Texas, still proudly serves as our home.
