Non-Profit Organization Helps Prepare Students for School
The Backpacks of Love Organization is Sending Students to School Fully-Equipped
Back to school season can be stressful. Not only does it mean adjusting to new routines, returning to sports teams, and juggling after-school activities, it also means shopping for school supplies. For many parents, this part can be the most overwhelming. As anyone who's ever gone school shopping knows, it can be a very expensive endeavor.
No parent wants their child to go without. However, balancing a tight budget and equipping your kiddos with everything they need can be a tricky balance. That’s why Collin Street Bakery is helping to promote awareness for Backpacks of Love.
Backpacks of Love is a nonprofit organization specializing in the creation and distribution of school supplies for children of low-income households. This year will be their 11th year serving our local Corsicana community. In 2020 alone, Backpacks for Love was able to hand out over 2,400 backpacks filled with supplies for Navarro County students.
This year, Backpacks of Love will be handing out bags on August 3rd and 4th from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Cook Center on the Navarro County College campus. Families interested in taking advantage of this organization, please come with a valid ID and proof of the child’s enrollment. This can include but is not limited to the student’s ID or a previous year’s report cards. Parents or guardians will also need to bring proof of income, such as a Medicaid card, a food stamp card, or a pay stub.

A valid ID
Proof of the children’s enrollment
Proof of parent or guardian’s income
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!
Volunteers are needed to welcome families as they arrive, direct families through the facility, check proper documentation, and most importantly, hand out pre-prepared bags to students. If you are interested in helping, please register here.
