Be a Great Host...or Guest...for the Holidays

Holiday entertaining is one of the true joys of the season. Here at Collin Street Bakery, we want to help make your holiday entertaining special and effortless. Here are some ideas that will ensure your holidays are memorable and easy, whether you’re a host or guest.

Host a cookie exchange

If you want a holiday party that’s anything but “cookie cutter,” consider a cookie exchange. Busy families will appreciate your efforts to make their seasonal work a little lighter. As part of the exchange, families can bring a designated amount of their own specialty cookies, and go home with one of your selections as well.

As the host, you can offer large containers to transport cookies or have everyone creatively package their treats. You can also create a book of photos and recipes once the fun is over, so guests can go home with a lasting keepsake.

If you want to include the kids, consider setting up a decorating area with frosting and toppings. The kids can decorate cookies while adults nibble and chat. Don’t forget the hot cider and hot chocolate!

Don’t have time to bake? No problem! We’ve got you covered. Collin Street Bakery can provide everything you need to make your cookies the life of the party. If you want your house to come alive with the scent of baking, just light a scented candle. All the benefits, none of the work!

Variety is the spice of life

Don’t have time to host or attend a cookie exchange? A cookie and cake bite plate will be the hit of any event. A mix of homemade and purchased treats is a great way to add a festive touch when you don’t have the time. Intersperse some of your own personal favorites, whether they’re ginger cookies, cutout cookies, or a special chocolate cake, with some purchased sweets. Consider adding in a sampler of our famous icebox cookies.

Be the most festive guest

Fruitcakes are a holiday tradition and you will be a favored guest when you show up with one. You can also share the Texas spirit with a world-famous pecan cake. Don’t have time to bake these sweet treats? We can do the work for you. As a guest, remember that one of your roles is to show the host your gratitude for both their event and your invitation. Mingle and enjoy the holiday cheer, but consider showing your thanks once the party is over with a heartfelt note or treat. You can have us send a cake or pie after the event. It’s a gesture that’s sure to earn you an invitation back!

We know that many people show their love through food. But what if your hectic holiday schedule doesn’t provide the time? We hope you’ll call on us to meet all of your baking needs, especially for hard-to-master treats like fudge pies, or goods that require precision, like delectable cheesecakes. Your guests will be delighted – and so will you.
