Texas State Fair Featuring Collin Street Bakery
Nothing Quite Says “America” Like The State Fair of Texas!
The Fair dates back to October 26, 1886. During that weekend, there were a little over 14,000 guests in attendance. And from that point on, the State Fair of Texas didn’t slow down. By the 1920s, hundreds of thousands were funneling through the gates to participate in new attractions and celebrate the great state of Texas. And in 1930, the State Fair of Texas began construction on the 46,000 Fair Park Stadium – which we now know as The Cotton Bowl!
But our favorite development to the Fair came in the 1960s when Collin Street Bakery made an appearance! That’s when our horse-drawn delivery wagon made its fair debut – a tradition that lasts to this day. You’ll see the wagon rolling with the Fair’s “Starlight Parade” winding through the fairgrounds every evening, starting at 7 PM.

If You Haven’t Ever Been To The State Fair Of Texas, We Highly Encourage You To Make It This Year. Why Wait?!
In 2018, a record 2 Million+ entered the State Fair gates over the course of 24 days. A State Fair with thousands of people a day might seem overwhelming. But the State Fair’s website has made it easy to plan your trip with friends and family. Check their online calendar for all the events your heart desires, including food competitions every day!
Our favorite event each year is the baking category in the Creative Arts cooking competitions. Collin Street is a regular sponsor, and we have participated as judges for the contests over the last three years. We love getting to see and taste the baked submissions from amateur bakers across the state. The competition is an event for baking enthusiasts that we look forward to all year long!
