The difference between these two cakes is the decorative topping—our Original DeLuxe^® is decorated with rings of neatly placed pecan halves with red and green glacéed fruit. Alternatively, our Sprinkle-Top DeLuxe^® Fruitcake is decorated with an artistic sprinkling of pecan halves and hand-placed red and green glacéed fruit. The only difference is how the pecans are placed on top of each cake. However, both fruitcakes contain the same great ingredients.

What is the shelf life of this product?

Our Sprinkle-Top DeLuxe^® Fruitcake is best enjoyed within a few days after arrival. But, if unopened, it can stay fresh at room temperature for up to three months. Once opened, if properly stored in an airtight container and refrigerated between servings, our Deluxe^® can stay fresh and moist for up to six months. For longer storage, we recommend placing our fruitcake in the freezer, where it can stay fresh for up to twelve months.

What is the best way to store this product?

We recommend storing our Sprinkle-Top DeLuxe^® Fruitcake inside its tin with the lids securely attached. For short-term storage, place our fruitcake in the refrigerator. For long-term storage, place our fruitcake in the freezer.

What are the red and green candies decorating the top of your DeLuxe^® Fruitcake?

Actually, those are not candies. They are cherries and pineapples that have been glaceéd and then dyed. Glaceéd fruit is preserved fruit that's been created by slowly soaking in sugar syrup. After glaceéing, Christmas-themed red and green coloring is added to the fruit, giving our fruitcakes a festive holiday look and feel.
